Dr. Samuel Hailu

Dr. Samuel Hailu earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and orthopaedic specialty certificate from Addis Ababa University. He completed traveling fellowships at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and Rush Presbyterian in Chicago. He then traveled to Toronto, Canada for his subspecialty fellowships training in orthopaedic trauma and joint replacement at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences and Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centres, University of Toronto. After his return to Ethiopia, he pioneered advanced operative management of complex pelvic and acetabular fractures. He teaches pelvic and acetabular surgical techniques both in the region as well as internationally. His other special subspecialty interest is total hip and knee replacement. Besides the routine joint replacements he perfomres and teaches, he has pioneered a muscle sparing surgical technique for hip replacement surgery, known as the direct anterior approach, in the region. After further study in Belgium, he has introduced the efficient direct anterior hip replacement concept in Ethiopia. This technology has many advantages including a very low risk of complications, a smaller scar, efficient surgical technique, and a shorter rehabilitation process. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship Director at Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa University. Dr. Samuel works as a part time Orthopaedic Surgeon at Samaritan Surgical Center.

  Dr. Azaria Kassahun

Dr. Azaria Kassahun  Has completed his undergraduate medical education and at Addis Ababa University (AAU) Medical school and he earned a specialty certificate from the same university. He is a fellow of college of surgeons of East and central Africa (COSECSA) and serves as examiner for COSECSA at the annual neurosurgery fellow examinations. He is currently an Assistant professor of Neurosurgery at AAU. Dr. Azarias works as a part time neurosurgeon at Samaritan surgical center.

     Dr. Aman Getachew

Dr. Aman Getachew earned his doctor of medicine degree from the college of health sciences, school of medicine, Addis Ababa University in 2013. He further attended his post graduate study in the same institution earning a specialty certificate in radiology, graduating top of his class and being awarded the honour of the Whitaker’s radiology award, given to the highest scoring graduating radiologist in the country. Dr. Aman Has worked as the medical director of the Mizan Teppi university teaching hospital, as well as a radiologist in Liyana health care and Yanet specialized medical and surgical center. Dr. Aman has special interest in pediatric radiology and has publications pertaining to pediatric radiology in local and international journals. He is an active member of the radiologic society of Ethiopia and was a presenter in the 23rd annual scientific conference of the society held at UNECA meeting hall in 2018. Dr. Aman is currently working as a full time radiologist at Samaritan surgical center.

 

      Dr.Yidnekachew Fekadu

Dr.Yidnekachew Fekadu Has completed his undergraduate medical education at Addis Ababa University (AAU) Medical school and he earned a specialty certificate in General Surgery from Jimma University. He is active member of Ethiopian Medical Association and Surgical Society of Ethiopia. He has published one journal on prevalence of necrotizing fasciitis. Yidnekachew worked as a General Surgeon at reputable private othr private and Government hospitals before joining Samaritan Surgical Center (SSC). He is currently a Medical Director and full time General Surgeon of Samaritan surgical center

Dr. Akeza Teame

Dr. Akeza Teame earned an Associate Degree of Arts from Hesston College, a BS in genetics from the University of Kansas and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Kansas School Of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (ID) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Akeza is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases (ID) in the US and licensed to practice medicine in several states in the US. He is also one of the six-panel physicians in Ethiopia chosen by the CDC and the American Embassy to conduct medical evaluation for the US Embassy visa applicants. Dr. Akeza is a Medical Director of American Medical Center and co-founder of Saint Yared General Hospital and Samaritan Surgical Center.

Dr. Derese Eshetu

Dr. Derese Eshetu earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Certificate of Specialty in Surgery from Addis Ababa Medical Faculty. He has worked as a General Practitioner in the Ministry of Defense Hospital from 1990-1997. Dr. Derese completed a residency training in General Surgery from 1998-2002. He has worked in South East command Hospital as a General Surgeon as well as the department head for Department Surgery. He has also served as the Medical Director of the South East Command Hospital from January 2005 – October 2008. He also worked as a full-time surgeon at saint Yared General from 2008-2017. He is now a full-time surgeon and Medical Director at Samaritan Surgical Center.

Dr. Solomon G/Mariam

Dr. Solomon G/Mariam (MD) Earned his degree of medicine from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki-Greece. He completed his residency in internal medicine at General Hospital of Athens, Greece (3 years Course). He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Janeio Hospital, Cardiologic department, Greece (4-years course) and granted specialty title in Cardiology. After succeeding in relevant examinations, Dr Solomon completed his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology (2 years course) at Janeio Hospital, Cardiology department-in Greece. Dr. Solomon also worked as consultant cardiologist at HYGEIA HOSPITAL Cardiologic Department (Harvard International). Dr. Solomon is a member of the Greece Cardiologist association and European Cardiology Association. Dr. Solomon is Board Certified to practice Medicine in European Union countries. Dr. Solomon worked at different hospital in-Ethiopia after returning to Ethiopia. Dr. Solomon is a scientific associate of Janeio Hospital Cardiologic Department- Greece.

Dr. Alemayehu Bedane

Dr. Alemayehu Bedane earned his doctor of medicine (MD) from Addis Ababa University and attended post-graduate studies at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He has worked as a lecturer and assistant professor of radiology department at Awassa University. Dr. Alemayehu has been working at Saint Yared General Hospital since December 2008 as a part-time radiologist. He is an assistant professor at St. Paul Millennium Medical College and he has joined American Medical Center in October 2012 as a part-time radiologist consultant. Dr. Alemayehu is also a part-time consultant at Samaritan Surgical Center.

Prof. Mitiku . Belachew

Prof. Mitiku . Belachew a surgeon of Ethiopian origin has been practicing obesity surgery since 1975. He is one of the pioneer surgeons for laparoscopic surgery. He developed the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAGB) technique for the treatment of morbid obesity. Surgical workshops have then been organized and Prof. Belachew trained more than 300 surgeons from all over the world on this procedure. He continues to teach LAGB in many places around the World. He has been proctoring FDA approved clinical trial programs of LAGB in more than 15 university centers in the USA since 1995. He has joined Saint Yared General Hospital and now is providing surgical consultation services at the American Medical Center and Samaritan Surgical Center
